Building clever, cheap and reliable AI-augmented workflows

...means getting the mix between AI and deterministic tooling (i.e. simple, old-fashioned programs and scripts) just right - or simply having AI build a deterministic tool that doesn't need constant expensive access to OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini in the first place.

This approach allowed me to build, for example, a document classifier that runs on a $20 subscription.
