A client asked me to migrate their legacy app's transactional email notifications to an external provider.

The main reason for the move was maintaining the E-Mail templates proved rather difficult, as it was all embedded in the the app's PHP source code.

Also, it was difficult to do the regular day-to-day administration - dealing with bounced emails, spam complaints, etc., through the hosting provider's systems.

We opted for Mailersend, which offers a WYSIWYG template editor, good GDPR compliance, and decent tools around monitoring, logging, bounces, et cetera.
